Fire Safety Level 2
Principles of Fire Safety for fire wardens/marshals
If you own or manage a business or other non-domestic premises, you’re responsible for fire safety. You’re responsible for fire safety in business or other non-domestic premises if you’re:
- An employer
- The owner
- The landlord
- An occupier
- Anyone else with control of the premises, for example, a facilities manager, building manager, managing agent or risk assessor
You are referred to as ‘the responsible person’.
In every workplace, it is crucial to have fire safety measures in place regardless of the size of the business. In addition to installing fire alarms and conducting fire drills, employees could be trained in fire safety.
Fire wardens/marshals are expected to assist the person with overall responsibility for fire safety. And they might be trained in emergency firefighting, helping with evacuations and carrying out fire checks and inspections.
