About the Course
This one-day course meets the requirements of both the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982.

Our trainers provide hands-on guidance in face-to-face sessions, following completion of the required e-learning module. Whether you’re in the Midlands or the North West, you can find a course location that works best for you.

Course Structure & Content
Emergency First Aid at Work consists of three parts:
Part 1: Theoretical knowledge – delivered via e-learning. You will be sent a link to the Highfield e-learning modules and you will be required to complete the e-learning individually prior to your arrival at the training venue.
Simply log on to the Highfield e-learning platform and work your way through the e-learning contents, along with the scenarios that provide them with real-life context.
You will be assessed at the end of the e-learning by multiple-choice questions.
Part 2: Practical activities – the practical content of the qualification will be delivered and assessed face-to-face at the training center.
Part 3: Multiple choice examination
Topics include:
- the roles and responsibilities of a first-aider
- importance of recording incidents and actions
- use of equipment, including Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- administrating first aid to a choking casualty
- dealing with casualties with fractures, and spinal, head or chest injuries
- basic hygiene and preventing cross infection
- treatment of an unconscious casualty
- dealing with hypovolaemic shock
- dealing with wounds and bleeding
- dealing with minor injuries, including small cuts, grazes, bruises and small splinters
- dealing with minor burns and scalds
- dealing with choking
- dealing with seizures
Course pre requisites
All delegates must be 14 + years of age.
To complete the e-learning, delegates will need access to the internet, tablet, PC or laptop.
Assessment & Examination
Theoretical Assessment – E-assessment: Delegates will be required to answer a series of questions and achieve a pass in each element of the theoretical assessment. Results will be made available immediately after the e-assessment.
You will receive an e-certificate upon successful completion of the Emergency First Aid qualification. Normally within 3- 7 working days.
Practical Assessment: The practical assessment is completed throughout the course delivery. During the practical assessment, delegates will be expected to demonstrate their ability to provide appropriate help to a casualty, manage the situation and seek appropriate assistance when necessary.
Examination Resits
E-Assessment results will be made available on the day of the e-assessment.
Refunds
- Bookings may be made by e-mail, via the T4E website, or by telephone.
- Registration for the course is not guaranteed until a completed registration form and payment (deposit) has been received. Placement in the course will be confirmed via E-mail by the T4E staff.
- Deposit and payments. Our courses are non-refundable 24 hours after booking. You can receive a full refund if you inform us within 24 hours of booking of your intention to cancel, and you will be refunded the amount paid for the course. Courses cancelled after 24 hours of booking will not be eligible for a refund.

Please note, you don’t need a certificate to apply for your SIA Licence.
Is the emergency first aid qualification needed to do the SIA Door Supervisor course?
Therefore, all candidates will need to show that they hold a current and valid First Aid or Emergency First Aid certificate that meets the requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.
The First Aid or Emergency First Aid certificate must be valid for at least 12 months from the course start date.
You will need to present your First Aid or Emergency First Aid certificate to Training4Employment before you start SIA Door Supervisor training.
