The Security Industry Authority (SIA) has extended the introduction of the updated close protection qualification to 01 April 2022.<\/p>\n
SIA are working with a close protection expert working group, awarding organisations and physical intervention programme providers to develop the relevant techniques and associated quality assurance processes for the new qualification.<\/p>\n

Changes to the qualification includes new physical intervention skills for close protection operatives. The current Close protection qualification does not include any physical intervention content. So, the Sia are adding a physical intervention skills unit and the current physical intervention from the Door supervisor module to close protection.<\/p>\n
The new content will allow the integration arrangement that permits close protection licence holders to work as Door Supervisors to continue.
